City Days Out

Annecy old town The historic and charming medieval town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away and a regular bus service runs from just outside our Aravis Lodge. You can easily spend a day exploring the medieval heart of this city, eating lunch in one of the numerous pavement cafes and visiting the historic chateau or Palais de l'Isle - the old prison. Lake Annecy Spend the afternoon wandering along its Lakeshore, set against a backdrop of stunning mountains, or take a boat trip on the aquamarine lake itself, calling at other medieval villages along the way. On a hot day you may just want to lie on the lakeside beach, swim in the clean water or hire a pedalo for an alternative view of Annecy. On Sundays there is an extensive market snaking in and out of the tiny winding streets which is fun to peruse.

Geneva is also another option for city fans, being just one hour away. You may like to extend your holiday to spend a night in Geneva either before of after your weekend break with us in order to explore this cosmopolitan city with interesting architecture or walk along the lakeshore of the largest lake in Europe.
