Lake Annecy & the Aravis – the perfect base for cycling short breaks

Bike Weekender’s home base is in the beautiful Aravis region of the French Alps. Only an hour from Geneva airport, the Aravis Mountains are one of France’s best kept secrets.

You’ll ride through unspoiled farming villages, past streams and meadows surrounded by towering peaks… then, off the saddle, soak up the relaxed approach and authentic charm of traditional Alpine life.

On top of this, Annecy, with its medieval old town, shaded parks and crystal-clear lake, is just down the road. Known as the ‘Venice of the Alps’, Annecy and its environs offer truly breath-taking scenery and an unforgettable setting for riding, swimming and relaxing.

Annecy and the Aravis are also steeped in cycling culture and history, and regularly play host to the Tour de France and other major cycling races like the Criterium de Dauphiné. You can follow in the traces of cycling legends over famous cols and time trial routes, all riding straight out of the door of our base, or take part in one of many local cycling events, sportives and challenges throughout the summer.

Whether you’re looking for challenging race-training, Tour de France col-bagging or just Alpine riding and relaxation, this stunning biking region of Aravis and Annecy has it all!

Southern Alps, Provence & Côte d’Azur – the best of cycling in France

Further afield, we run regular cycling tours and custom bike events in Southern France and the Mediterranean.

The ethos remains the same – we use our experience and resources to let you ride amazing cycling routes and enjoy authentic French culture, without having to worry about any of the organisation.

The majestic Southern French Alps are a cyclist’s dream, with the legendary climbs to Alpe d’Huez, col du Galibier and col d’Izoard just a few of the famous names from the Tour de France that we can help you conquer.

Provence and the Ventoux region offer riding with spectacular contrasts, from rolling vineyards and lavender fields, to the gruelling ascent of majestic Mont Ventoux, one of the most famous cycle climbs in the world.

The Côte d’Azur combines glittering sea, palm trees and beach-side glamour with quiet roads through the hills and green forests of the Massif des Maures a little way inland.

Wherever you choose to ride, you can rest assured that we will make it a cycling holiday to remember.
