Col des Saisies from Flumet in the Savoie

Col des Saisies lies to the south-west of the popular ski resort of Megève, and links Flumet in the Arly valley to the north with La Pierre/Beaufort in the Doron valley to the south.
The climb starts at the turn off at the top of the village on the road between Flumet and Megève. The climb begins with a series of irregular switchbacks, climbing through pretty alpine scenery alternating between forest, open alpine pastures and pretty villages, in stark contrast to the arrival at the col, the rather drab and non-descript semi-deserted ski resort of Les Saisies.

The Tour de France has crossed the col on 11 occasions, with the 2016 Tour de France making it 12.
