  • 1 hour transfer from Geneva

Hotel les Glaieuls
The perfect location to ensure you have maximum time on the bike, Hotel Les Glaieuls is a small cosy hotel in a quiet location on the edge of the resort. It offers renowned food, friendly service and a warm welcome.

The hotel has 19 ensuite bedrooms, a bar and lounge set around an open fire. After the lifts close and the visitors leave, this is a very quite setting away from the bustle of the village, especially peaceful at night once the lifts have closed. This could be ideal for those who want easy access to all the area has to offer, but peace and quiet away from the main resort in the evening.

Glaieuls Lounge

At the end of a fun day on the bike, the comfortable lounge  is the perfect place to meet other cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts over a cold beer.

In the evening you can expect to sample some very tasty, locally produced food and wine in the dining room, with full mountain views.

Marion and Frank will be your main point of contact and are always on hand to answer your questions and offer great advice on the resort and local activities.

In terms of the cycling, Hotel les Glaieuls is a great base to access rides of differing levels of ability from right outside the door, in the heart of the mountains.

Though if you’re looking to bag some cols frequently used in the Alpine stages of the Tour de France, Le Grand Bornand is half-way between both Col de la Colombière and Col des Aravis, and the views at the top of each are well worth the effort!

All-in-all it is a great location for both our Lite and Classic cycling weekend breaks in the Northern French Alps.

Hotel Les Glaieuls

Hotel Les Glaieuls – Rooms

The hotel has 19 ensuite bedrooms on 2 main floors. The rooms provide a real ‘mountain’ atmosphere, and are also equipped with a telephone and TV. Many of the bathrooms have been recently renovated. This years project is to improve the WiFi signal to all bedrooms.
As with most hotels, check out is on the morning of departure – but they offer a room for you to change and shower in after your final day on the bike, and before heading to the airport.

Hotel Les Glaieuls – Social Facilities

Once the telecabines close in the evening, Hotel Les Glaieuls, which is set back off the road, becomes a lovely peaceful and quiet place to spend your evening around the fire in the comfortable lounge, the bar or the sunny terrace overlooking the Aravis mountains.

It also benefits from being an easy 5-minute flat walk to the village centre where you can enjoy lots of restaurants and bars. There is an ice rink and cinema which you can reach in a 10-minute walk.

Hotel Les Glaieuls – Food

The dining room is designed so that you can take in beautiful mountain views over dinner, and the restaurant is highly rated for its excellent food and high level of service. You can enjoy regional wines and dishes made with locally sourced produce.

The chef team can cater for all your dietary needs – please ensure you notify us in advance.

Hotel les Glaieuls – Location & Cycling Access

The hotel is located just a 5-minute walk from the centre of Le Grand Bornand, with only an hour’s airport transfer from Geneva.

There are several restaurants, bars, newsagents, ATMs, post office, mini supermarkets, bakeries, ski/outdoor gear and gift shops in the villagel. The Tourist Office is in the main square, where you can find more information on what is happening in the village and surrounding area.

Although there are several fantastic rides direct from the hotel’s door, in July and August there are also shuttle buses that run between Le Grand Bornand and the slightly larger resort of La Clusaz (just 10 minutes away), as well as access to other small outlying villages, from which you can start your rides. Or maybe hop on the bus back if you want an easy ride home.

Most of the buses take bikes, but do check in advance. The bus is free with the local Guest Card which we can provide if required, which also gives you discounts on other activities in the area.

Bike Hire

Bikes are available to hire locally if you wish.
